About Don Paul: As a beloved TV personalityy Don has had to be the bearer of the good and bad news about WNY’s climate since joining Channel 4 news in 1984. He has been an important part of Buffalo’s landscape since many of us were kids. Don is the only Buffalo Meteorologist to be awarded the Distinguished Scientist Award from, from the Western New York Science Congress. Not only does Don love science but he also loves fun! He wrote jokes for New York radio personality Ted Brown (of WNEW-AM) for 9 years and was twice considered for a staff writing position for “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson” by the show’s Head Writer. When asked why he loves Buffalo Don responded “It sounds hokey, but among the things I like best about Buffalo is the weather, and that INCLUDES lake effect snow! I love the relative ease of getting around (compared to the NYC area where I grew up), the choices for entertainment and eating, the warmth of the people, and the surrounding countryside. I never knew I would settle down here when I arrived in 1984, but Buffalo is home now.” We are so delight to bring his talent to Sugar City for this special event! About the band: Peg Leg Love is the sound of L.A. with the right amount of darkness and pop. Started in 2005 by Ilir Zeneli as a solo project, since the group has evolved into a three piece with Christina Ownby on bass and Rocio Galindo on drums. Their sound is comparable to early garage/punk acts such as the Cramps, the Gun Club, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. “Their dark sound is supposed to flirt with the scary side of Punk Rock, with a mix of Rockabilly Pop and Punk. With pounding drums, a Reverb Surfing Guitar, a dark bass line and some lugubrious vocals, PEG LEG LOVE take the Stage, to play their short and fast retro tunes that evoke The Cramps or Gun Club. It’s obscure but not bleak, it’s tough but upbeat at the same time, energetic and windy, and it made me think about a music scene I haven’t known but only heard about. A Pop sound that Darkens its nature without taking itself too seriously.”
