97 Woodward Tribute Party: poetry readings by RE Katz & Rachelle Toarmino and music by Little Cake & Sparklebomb
These artists are paying tribute to the home they all shared together but this will also be Katz’s EXIT INTERVIEW & Ana’s BDAY PARTY & Rachelle’s launch of her chapbook PERSONAL & GENERIC (PressBoardPress) which will be available for $10 at the event —
RE Katz works as an artist in residence at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and as a teaching artist for the Just Buffalo Literary Center. She is the author of Any Berry You Like (iO Books, 2014), Author Collection (Awst Press, 2015), and Pony at the Super (Horse Less Press, 2015).
Rachelle Toarmino is a writer, k-8 Spanish teacher, bookstore clerk at Talking Leaves Books and ESL editor at Karibu News. Her poetry and prose have appeared or are forthcoming in Shabby Doll House, Metatron, Alien Mouth, Potluck Mag, Alien She Zine, Ghost City Review and other places online and in print. PERSONAL & GENERIC (PressBoardPress), a collection of visual poems, is her first chapbook.
Little cake (Ana Vee) creates songs, hype for artists and builds community through music, performance and friendships in Buffalo, NY. She began as a classical musician and teacher, gaining her bachelors and graduate degrees in education and violin/piano performance. Since 2011 she has recorded music all over town and developed a persona as a performer, singer and instrument player in the touring group ‘Little cake and Jack Topht’ (two albums released) and as vocalist in winner of the Buffalo Spree’s “best local music act”, RADARADA, a popular, hip-hop/jazzy project in town. Ana is ecstatic to have recently assembled a personal band with Evan Vafai and Derick Evans, a talented bunch to perform Little cake’s original compositions, many of which you can hear/download demo versions of at soundcloud.com/littlecakesounds.
Sparklebomb is a solo electronic music project by Angie M. Conte. She uses her hands to manipulate keyboards/pedals/samples and then she simultaneously controls her drum machine with her feet like an insane freak. She self-released a few tapes back in the day, but eventually the Ithaca-based label Prime Ruin encouraged her to release her first two fancy-pants tapes – Funeral Beats (2014) and Bring in the Night (2015).
