Homegrown

Homegrown is a collaborative multimedia show featuring three friends that have aimed to create unique works of art using fruit as the cohesive theme. Holly Norris is a Buffalo-based graphic designer who utilizes a wide variety of mediums in both design and illustration to create work that is a subtle mix of handmade and digitally produced. With a bold, graphic look, she enjoys the differing quality of screen print posters and the bright colors that can be achieved by hand printing her work. Artist website: hmnorris.com Hannah Wiech is a visual artist whose focus is mainly oil paintings of portraiture, animal portraiture and the concept of manipulated realism. Her techniques include layering and glazing oil paints to capture texture and precise color detail in her subjects. She also dabbles in mediums such as watercolor, embroidery, and wood burning. Folks I Know is a collection of portraits as seen through the eyes of seven active Instagrammers in Buffalo, N.Y., and includes works by co-curators Kevin Thurston and Ben Siegel, as well as Harper S.E. Bishop, Mickey Harmon, Paris Henderson, Greg Marinaccio and Erica Eichelkraut Zilbauerand.

Sat 10/14 8-10PM | COMEDY | $7 pre-sale/$10 at the door | INVITE Approaching Happiness with Krish Mohan (D.C.) Feat. local suppoert from Senaca Stone, Jamie Bono & Cody Colin Chase. Comedian Krish Mohan explores the idea of Happiness and perceptions of mental illness in today’s society. He removing the stigmas associated with immigration, drugs, gun control, racism and being accountable for the problems we’ve created, all revolving around the subject of mental health. Will he find out how we can all approach happiness?

Thurs 10/26 6-9PM | ART | FREE | INVITE Opening Reception: 2017 Artist Lottery! On the evening of August 31st 24 local creators came to Sugar City and were randomly put into pairs. These 12 pairs were given six weeks to create a collaborative visual art piece. Like the pairing night the final pieces will be a complete mystery. Though unlike pairing night the finished projects will not be random, but made with purpose between these forged pairings.
