As of September 2014 Sugar City is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit (meaning we are tax deductible now). We had long been resistant to becoming a 501(c)3 due to expense, administration and if this status would even help our small organization much. We learned in the summer of 2014 the IRS restructured 501(c)3 applications and made them easy for groups likes us with an operating budget of under $50,000. I normal human can fill this out and annual reports are only a postcard! This is awesome and has let Sugar City access to programs that benefit our mission. Learn more about the 1023EZ form here
Sugar City subsists on donations to pay rent and fund artist projects. We collect funds many different ways including Space Rental, Fundraising (i.e Bustin’ Out Dance Party and Mix Exchange Series) and direct donations (monetary, volunteer hours or supplies.)

Sugar City runs on the hard work of our volunteers. The amount of volunteers necessary and specific responsibilities will vary based on the event/project. Volunteers are given tasks such as managing events, helping with workdays, installing art shows and performing community outreach. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering.
We host Open Arts and Music Committee Meetings The 1st Tuesday of every month at 7:30PM. Are you interested in getting involved with programming at Sugar City? Would you just like to volunteer? Or maybe you are just curious about how we manage this an endeavor? WELL come out to our open monthly meeting!
